For the fourth year in a row, David Powers Homes has been honored by The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award and was given the 2007 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency.

The only Houston builder to boast such an achievement, David Powers Homes continues to earn accolades from homebuyers and the building industry for its commitment to building homes with environmentally-friendly materials and the highest standards of energy efficiency.

As one of the first builders to become a partner in the Energy Star Program in the Houston market, David Powers Homes has set the standard for what homebuyers expect in a new home. The company has been credited for raising the standards of consumer’s expectations for energy efficiency in new homes in part with a multi-faceted marketing campaign aimed at informing and promoting the benefits of an Energy Star home.

“We’re very proud to have received this honor and the distinction of Sustained Excellence,” said Company President and Founder David Powers. “Our focus is to build homes that appeal to our customers from both a design and quality standpoint, and in the area of quality, energy efficiency, from the materials we use to the methods by which we construct our homes, has to be of the highest standard.”

Across the U.S., top companies and organizations are continuing to promote energy efficiency through participation in Energy Star. The EPA reports that last year alone, Americans with the help of Energy Star, saved $14 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 25 million vehicles.

The 2007 Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited outstanding leadership consistently. These winners have set and achieved aggressive goals, employed innovative approaches, and shown others what can be achieved through energy efficiency. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the Energy Star program including energy-efficient products, services, new homes and in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the Energy Star program.

“Partners like David Powers Homes are outstanding leaders in protecting our environment through energy efficiency,” said Bill Wehrum, acting assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. “As one of the 2007 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence winners, David Powers Homes has taken energy efficiency to new heights year after year and we all benefit.”
